CornerstoneSF of San Francisco chose FOR-A’s HVS-Q12 video switcher for the church’s new UHD studios, marking the first sale of the powerful 2ME 3G/12G switcher in the U.S. CornerstoneSF is a long-term customer of FOR-A, installing the company’s HVS-390 video switcher in 2014. The HVS-Q12 was selected for CornerstoneSF by the San Francisco–based systems integration firm, Novo Group.

According to Novo Group CEO Arthur Yeap, the support that Cornerstone has received since the HVS-390 installation figured prominently in the decision: “The church’s production team had excellent customer support with excellent factory response time. When compared to competitive vendors, others offered little to no support or costly annual service plans.

“FOR-A is a gem that many more users and integrators should discover.”

Yeap has been following the progress of the HVS-Q12 and was confident that it was the right time, place, and price for deployment in CornerstoneSF’s new technical facilities. “In addition to FOR-A’s history of support, features that solidified the choice were the switcher’s intuitive control panel, excellent keyers, Dante® networking, and NDI® capability.”

After discussing all possible options with the team at CornerstoneSF, the decision to install the HVS-Q12 was unanimous. “The HVS-Q12 checked all the right boxes for build-quality, picture quality, ease of use, and reliability – at a sensible price point,” explained Robert Kendrick, Digital Director, CornerstoneSF.

Christ Lossius, Technical Director at CornerstoneSF, added, “Reliability and video quality are two things we examine in great detail. Equally important is the ease of use of the switcher. We’ve got a mix of professional and volunteer staff, so making sure it can be operated at its full capacity by beginners as well as advanced operators is critical. If that’s not possible, our presentations will suffer.”

FOR-A America President and COO Satoshi Kanemura, commented, “We’re honored that CornerstoneSF selected the HVS-Q12 for this milestone installation and grateful for the confidence they placed in FOR-A after more than a decade as a customer. This project reflects exactly what we set out to achieve with the HVS-Q12 – a powerful production switcher that delivers broadcast-quality performance while remaining intuitive enough for operators of all experience levels. We’re excited that the first U.S. deployment of the HVS-Q12 is helping establish a new benchmark for live production in the house of worship market, and we look forward to supporting many more customers as they modernize their production workflows.”

Visitors to the upcoming MMCA Show in Pensacola, Fla. (July 21–24) will have the opportunity to experience the HVS-Q12 firsthand, along with other FOR-A production solutions designed for the house of worship market. FOR-A America will exhibit for the first time at the annual event. FOR-A will show the HVS-Q12, along with Alfalite LED displays, HVS-190 series 1M/E video switcher, Insight server, MixBoard® software-based switcher powered by ClassX, and viztrick AiDi – a 9:16 auto-cropping and tracking AI solution developed by Nippon TV and delivered globally by FOR-A.

The 2 M/E HVS-Q12 is a powerful 3G switcher that is software upgradable to 12G and provides 3 M/E equivalent operation with MELite™ technology. Designed for broadcast control rooms and live event production, it is a compact 4RU, but provides up to 60 inputs and 30 outputs in 3G mode and up to 42 inputs and 21 outputs in 12G. Up to eight keyers are available per M/E at HD/3G. Four keyers are available for 12G transmission. The HVS-Q12 has an IP interface for both Dante and NDI support.
