2M/E - 4M/E Digital Video Switcher
HVS-5000 Series "HANABI"

FOR-A's flagship digital video switcher, covering 2M/E to 4M/E. This multi-function switcher brings together a vast array of functions as the heart of a system, such as mixed HD and SD input, 3Gbps support, independent control of each M/E, multi-viewer capability, 3D DVE and video file support.

Diverse Lineup from 2M/E to 4M/E
The HVS-5000 series lineup includes three model choices: the HVS-5200 with 2 M/E, the HVS-5300 with 3 M/E, and the HVS-5400 with 4 M/E. The series's control panel includes the operating panel from the current HANABI series operations system panel and an operating panel with special buttons for sequencing and other functions, making it the best choice for editing applications. A system can be built with a variety of switcher combinations to meet the user's system scale and applications used.

Mixed HD and SD Input
The HVS-5000 series offers easy operation from the operation unit and allows switching between HD and SD and among HD formats. With the optional up-/down-/cross-converter card installed, also supports mixed input from HD and SD signals. With the switcher alone, it is possible to perform mixed processing without concern for the differences between HD and SD.
*Supported formats:
HD: 1080/60i, 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 1080/24p, 1080/24psf, 1080/23.98p, 1080/23.98psf, 720/60p, 720/59.94p, 720/50p
SD: 525/60 (NTSC), 625/50 (PAL)

3Gbps Signal Standard Support
In addition to HD and SD signals, the series supports the next-generation signal standard 3Gbps. This allows support for signal formats 1080/60p and 1080/50p.
Supported formats: 1080/60p, 1080/59.94p, 1080/50p

Independent Control of Each M/E
The HVS-5000 series supports independent control of each M/E. For example, one can independently control one of the HVS-5400's four M/Es as a separate switcher.

Up-/Down-Converter
The HVS-5000 series offers the option of installing an up-/down-converter. Because a frame synchronizer comes standard with this option, asynchronous video can be input as is. The series can be upgraded to as many as eight channels in units of four channels.

Maximum 96 Inputs, 48 Outputs
The HVS-5400 allows configuration with up to 96 inputs and 48 outputs. Capacity can be added in units of 16 inputs and 8 outputs.

HVS-5200
(2 M/E type)
- Standard 16 inputs, maximum 32 inputs
- Standard 24 outputs, maximum 24 outputs (16 AUXs)
HVS-5300
(3 M/E type)

- Standard 32 outputs (16 AUXs), maximum 48 outputs (32 AUXs)

Multi Viewers
The HVS-5000 series can be equipped with a multi-viewer as an option. The multi-viewer, which can split the screen into 16 units, can have up to two channels. This allows operation on large monitors and a reduction in the number of monitors used.

Maximum 16-channel Still Stores
The HVS-5200/5300/5400 each come loaded with an eight-channel still store, standard. This can be upgraded to as many as 16 channels. The HANABI series supports familiar animation logo display.

4-channel Keyers for Each M/E
Four-channel keyers for each M/E are a standard feature. 2D DVE and chroma key are standard in all keyers. A high quality chroma keyer can also be added as an option to keyer 1 in each M/E. In addition to keyers, a common DSK comes standard in two channels, which can be upgraded to four channels.

Strong Masking Function
Allows linking of VTR time code to sequence timeline, making previously difficult editing operations easy, such as masking in coordination with subject motion.

Video Memory Unit
With the addition of the external video memory unit, the series can play back about 15 seconds of HD full video. The playback function allows fading between scenes, so it can be used for computer graphics wiping and various types of animation.

Reference Inputs/Outputs
Supports multiple reference input/output and allows input of BB and Tri-level sync input.

Model Name Reference Input Reference Output
HVS-5200 2 inputs 2 outputs
HVS-5300 3 inputs 3 outputs
HVS-5400 4 inputs 4 outputs

Color Corrector
The HVS-5000 series can be equipped with an optional color corrector. That allows process control, color adjustment and clipping of color information.

Touch Panel Controller
A touch panel controller comes standard for each model. With this feature, one can intuitively operate the switcher's functions, such as setting miscellaneous parameters, editing the still store and sequence timeline, and making color correction settings.

3D DVE
In addition to the standard keyer DVE, 3D DVE can be equipped. The HVS-5000 series can be equipped with up to four* channels.
(*The HVS-5300/5400 will be supported up to eight channels)

Line DVE
A DVE effect can be added to each bus, allowing transition of the image with WIPE or MIX. This makes it easy to set up such effects as picture-in-picture.

Macro Function
The series comes with a macro function to set up macros that remember a variety of operations and procedures.

External Device Control
Allows integrated control of various external devices, including routing switchers, VTRs, disk recorders, multi-viewers and so on.

Other Functions
- Safety area display function
- Sequence function
- Event memory
- Matte generator
- GPI 10 inputs, 20 outputs (open corrector)
- Various editing device support
