Real-time graphics, now essential in production

Real-time computer graphics are now an essential facet of news, variety, sports, and other programs. Depending on the program, production staff can incorporate all kinds of graphics.

Familiar examples include logos, captions, and the indispensable on-screen text that accompanies news reports. Additional video content may be set into the background, or cleverly suspended in a virtual studio. Other examples include transitional CG effects to switch between studio and video screens, graphics showing the score or the distance to a golf hole or goal line, weather graphics across a map, and the charts that are so vital during elections.

All of these real-time graphics must also be high resolution when used in next-generation 4K/8K production environments. Steady development of real-time graphics products for the 4K/8K era has been a focus at FOR-A.
