MXF Clip Server (Baseband Converter)
MBP-100SX/110SXA (XDCAM/XDCAM HD format)

MBP-100SX/110SXA are compact (1RU) video clip servers equipped with HD/SD-SDI inputs and outputs and a solid-state drive (SSD) for recording.
Record and play MXF files compatible with Sony XDCAM/XDCAM HD/XDCAM HD422 equipment. Clips can be transferred or saved over Gigabit Ethernet. Highly versatile and reliable, the servers can be used in a variety of applications including ingest, playback, and even program playout using a playout system.

Conversion of Video Signals and MXF Files

- Equipped with HD/SD-SDI input and output, and supports conversion between baseband signals and MXF files (ingest applications).
- Even during video recording or playback, clips can be added over the network; no time lost for switching disks or media (seamless operation)
- Supports up to 8 channels of audio in embedded format

Hardware Engineered to Leverage Advanced Technologies

- Compact 1RU vibration-resistant case, ideal for off-site and in-vehicle applications
- Dedicated hardware; unlike products based on computer platforms, the converter can be easily turned on and off with a single switch
- Real-time recording and stable playback of video on hardware developed by FOR-A
- Recording to SSD enables solid, vibration-resistant video performance

Convenient Control Software

- Can be used as a clip server providing database-driven management of video clips and playout programs, in conjunction with the MediaConcierge media management system
- Comes equipped with control software, for standalone operation when the unit is connected to a mouse and PC monitor or touch-panel interface
- Registered clips are instantly recognizable by thumbnail display in the control software
- Can be controlled remotely over a network by installing the software for remote operation on a PC, in addition to standalone operation (optional)
- Add-on software available; manage lists indicating the playout order, or manage playout involving multiple lists (optional)

Full Range of Interfaces

- Ethernet: 100Base-TX/1000Base-T Ethernet port for high-speed file transfer
- USB: 4 USB 2.0-compatible ports (2 each in front and back), enabling connection of external XDCAM drives or a keyboard and mouse
- RS-422: Enables each control through VCR emulation commands when an external controller is connected (optional)
- GPI: GPI ports enabling starting and stopping playback (3 inputs, 3 outputs) are convenient in system building (optional)
- VGA: Computer display port enables access to settings and use of control software

Playback via touch-panel interfaces   Playback using playlists List management (optional)

Sample Applications

Playback Application - MBP Standalone

- Transfer MXF files (produced or edited in nonlinear systems) over the network to the MBP for conversion and output as HD/SD-SDI baseband signals
- Control the MBP using a touch-panel interface, mouse or keyboard
- GPI external triggers also supported
*Encoding and decoding cannot be performed at the same time

Playback Application - Playout of Shared Material on Multiple MBP Units

- Store material produced or edited in nonlinear systems on a shared NAS unit
- Transfer MXF files on the NAS over the network to multiple MBPs
- Coordinated control of multiple MBPs using a touch-panel interface, mouse or keyboard from the computer where the remote control software is installed
- GPI external triggers also supported
*Encoding and decoding cannot be performed at the same time

Playout Application - Using MBP as a Video Server

- Store material produced or edited in nonlinear systems on a shared NAS unit
- Transfer specified MXF files on the NAS over the network to the video server using the automatic program playout system
- Use a flash memory-based video server for exceptional stability
- MXF files on the video server can be played out from multiple MBPs
- Use of flash memory-equipped video server and MBPs enables exceptionally stable playout environment
*Encoding and decoding cannot be performed at the same time
