FOR-A AT BROADCAST LIVE AND VIDEO-FORUM 2008 STAND H 50, 30 JANUARY-1 FEBRUARY, EARIS COURT 2, LONDON

December 12, 2007

Chessington, December 12, 2007 - At the show, FOR-A will present the latest additions to its successful HANABI and GINGA range of video mixers. These ranges are recognized for high quality, range of capabilities and performance while offering good value with many being SD/HD switchable - ideal for the transition to HD. Visitors to stand H 50 can have one-to-one demonstrations, take a close look and learn more about the practical aspects of FOR-A's range of mixers.

The 'HANABI' f range of affordable, SD/HD switchable mixers are ideal for the transition to HD. New at the show is the HVS-1500HS 1.5 ME with a wide range of advanced functions such as an up-converter, down-converter, color corrector and DVE. There is a choice of three compact 24, 16, or 12-button control panels that keep the same familiar HANABI series operating system with a new design for easier use and more functionality. Now SD/HD requirements, from the portable/OB/flyaway with the HVS-500HS, to larger production studios and post with the 2 ME HVS-3800HS, can be met with the HANABI range.

The 'Ginga' SD mixers offer a wide range of capabilities and high-end performance. The VPS-715 1.5 ME mixer has a high specification with powerful 2D DVE effects. The standard configuration includes six keyers, two of them downstream, and all including chroma keying with 4:4:4 processing. Options include expansion from 8 to 16 inputs, a stills store and flash recorder card option can be used to enable recording and playback of uncompressed SD video.

FOR-A is also renowned for video processing technology. On show is the latest version of its FRC-7000 industry-leading HD frame rate converter that uses motion compensation processing for the clearest portrayal of picture movement. This hugely versatile converter works superbly between all HD-standard vertical scan rates both interlaced and progressive - even 24-25 f/s. It scores another industry first as it can include Dolby E in/out within its 3RU chassis, saving additional boxes and complexity. Applications range from live broadcasts and post production to DVD mastering.

The FA-9100 is billed as a frame synchronizer with 12-bit internal processing for high-quality images. But, as it is based on FOR-A's next-generation multi-purpose signal processor, it can also offer a number of practical optional functions that greatly extend its role. It can help with the SD/HD transition with support for all formats including up and down conversion for format changes between HD and SD. There is also colour correction and median-based noise reduction, logo insertion and Dolby E decoding – altogether invaluable capabilities for today's TV operations packed into 1RU.

MV-16S multi-display processor is one of FOR-A's range of products that enables multi-channel viewing on a single display up to 1600 x 1200. It accepts analog, digital NTSC and PAL signals to produce outputs according to the selected set or custom-designed display configurations, with up to a 16-channel split with tallies and titles. The MV-16S is a 1UR box and so easily installed on-site.
