RCN-TV SELECTS FOR-A HD/SD SWITCHER AND FRAME SYNCHRONIZER TO AID IN PRODUCTION OF POPULAR "NOVELAS"

July 30, 2007

CYPRESS, CA, July 30, 2007 - FOR-A Corporation of America, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, announces the sale of a HANABI HVS-500HS switcher and FA-9000 signal processor to RCN-TV in Colombia. Both units were recently installed in RCN-TV's mobile production truck. RCN-TV is one of the largest private television channels in Colombia and reaches 97% of the Colombian population through 13 stations. The company has produced highly successful programs, such as "Betty la Fea," which is considered one of the most successful Colombian telenovelas.

Daniel Amaya, Broadcast Manager with Daga SA, a systems integration company specializing in distribution, commercialization and representation of equipment for the broadcast industry, has a long-standing relationship with RCN-TV and encouraged them to select FOR-A products for their production truck. "We represent FOR-A in Colombia, and we consider their products to be of the highest quality. RCN-TV is very happy with the equipment they've just installed and are currently considering purchasing more products from FOR-A in the coming months," said Amaya.

Before installing the HVS-500HS, RCN-TV was using a highly complex production system, akin to those used for feature films, to record scenes for its telenovelas. The use of such specialized equipment added unnecessarily to production costs. The compact and self-contained design of the HVS-500HS switcher not only simplified production, it reduced overall costs and allowed RCN to better utilize its much larger production equipment.

The FA-9000 frame synchronizer in the production truck allows crews to synchronize all cameras and video tape recorders being used on the set. The upconverter function of the FA-9000 is used often when there is a need to up convert an SD source to HD. The unit also features an extensive array of additional functions such as a down converter, color corrector, median-based noise reduction, logo generator and a Dolby-E decoder in a compact 1RU size.

The FA-9000 supports all video signal input and output formats for digital signals such as HD-SDI and SD-SDI and for analog component (HD and SD) and analog composite. This one device can support all video signals from signal type conversion to format conversion. It also provides digital analog input/output for audio signals in the same way as video signals. A Dolby-E decoder can be installed for accurate monitoring and signal correction for surround signals in a multi-channel environment.

The HVS-500HS switcher comes with 10-bit, 4:2:2 internal processing. Competitive HD switchers start at approximately $30,000. FOR-A's affordable HVS-500HS comes in at just a fraction of that price. Its variety of input/output interfaces include: HD/SD SDI, HD/SD Analog, VGA and HDV/DV. It can also connect to HDV cameras or PCs. The switcher is multi-format in HD for 1080/60i, 50i, 720/60p and is switchable from NTSC to PAL. The standard switcher has four HD/SD SDI inputs, two PGM outputs and three AUX outputs.
