SATELLITE TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS selects FOR-A switcher for its new satellite uplink truck
April 12, 2007
CYPRESS, CA, April 12, 2007 - Satellite Technology Systems (STS), a premier KU satellite uplink truck provider, will debut its newly upgraded KU/HD Production Uplink Vehicle at NAB (Booths OE327and OE332), featuring FOR-A's HVS-1000HS HANABI 1 M/E HD switcher. Following NAB, the 31-foot production uplink truck will be available to produce a variety of live events, ranging from breaking news coverage, sports events and lives concert production - all in HD.
STS Founder and President, Chuck Spoto said that the ever-increasing market for remote, live HD production prompted him to select the HVS-1000HS. According to Spoto, with the HVS-1000HS STS can provide uniform production quality to clients already familiar with the HVS-1000HS: "The HVS-1000HS is a fairly new but well-known piece of equipment. A major client of ours has the same switcher. We needed to deliver the same high quality at a price point that made sense for us. Hands down, this FOR-A switcher provided the maximum amount of features in the most cost-effective package."
When it comes to robust production capabilities; the 31-foot STS truck rivals much larger production vehicles. It boasts a relatively roomy control room, able to seat a crew of eight. Since space is at a premium within any mobile unit, the compact nature of the HVS-1000HS switcher made it a good fit for STS. STS customers can choose to use up to six broadcast grade cameras, either the JVC GYHD250 or the Sony HDC 1500 Fiber/Triax cameras. The KU/HD Production Uplink Vehicle also features a 56-channel digital audio board with 5.1 Dolby surround sound, two Panasonic HD 1400 VTRs, and an Evertz Video Monitor Display.
The HANABI HVS-1000HS ties it all together. The switcher comes standard with eight inputs, and can be configured for up to 16 inputs. Four still pictures can be stored in frame memory and the HVS-1000HS features five standard outputs (PGM x 2, PVW x 1, AUX x 1, Input Preview x 1). It is optionally expandable to seven outputs. One channel of key is also standard. Up to three independent key layers and key edge/shadow generators are available. The two optional keys can be used for chroma key operations. One DVE card comes pre-installed on the HVS-1000HS.
"The built-in DVE and pre-programmed options enhance the look of our live productions. With the HVS-1000HS, we can add a certain level of effects that make us stand out. We'll be going coast-to-coast with this truck. We're already getting calls," said Spoto.
