FOR-A LAUNCHES HIGHEST EVER RESOLUTION CAMERA

IHC-600 six million pixel camera aimed to help the security industry

Jan 31st, 2005

UK, January 31, 2005 - FOR-A, a leading manufacturer of systems for the security, broadcast and professional video industries, has launched a new six million pixel ultra high resolution surveillance camera with an internal disk recorder. The new IHC-600 camera, one of the highest ever resolution cameras available, is designed for use in the police, security and defence industries including sensitive areas such as airports, car parks, banks and harbours.

The camera continuously records high-resolution JPEG images onto an internal hard disk. It is perfect for use where pictures need to remain clear, even when they are enlarged several times, or when a portion (a persons face or vehicle number plate) is zoomed in for closer inspection. Up to four images can be output via a network and simultaneously viewed on a PC. Images can also be viewed via a web browser, without the need to install any specialist software.

"Until recently surveillance experts have been unable to capture and analyse images such as CCTV footage in detail, as conventional cameras have prevented them from doing so," said Jackson Kitahara, managing director, FOR-A (UK) Ltd. "With FOR-As IHC-600 camera experts are now able to snap images in high resolution and preview them on their PC via their network. This really is a revolutionary move for those highlighting, recording and preventing criminal acts."

The IHC-600 offers instant preview and long-term storage via digitised data. It comes with a 40GB hard disk drive which can easily be upgraded to 80GB. A range of videotape-recording functions, such as time-lapse videotape recording, sequential recording, and trigger recording (pre-/post alarm), also come as standard. Additionally the camera automatically updates images that are being viewed to the newest image available, even when the zoom function is being used.

"Our aim with this latest ultra resolution camera is to make highly detailed surveillance possible at a much lower price point compared to the conventional film cameras currently used in the surveillance industry," continued Kitahara.

In keeping with its use for security applications, the IHC-600 camera is equipped with its own built-in security system so that only authorised administrators can observe or edit images. It replaces the conventional 35mm film camera for security applications where higher resolution images are required in order to view images in greater detail.
