MEGA MEDIA STUDIOS GETS IN TUNE WITH FOR-A DIGIWARP-EX II VIRTUAL STUDIO SYSTEM FOR MUSIC VIDEOS

Virtual Studio System "Astonishes" Program Creators Who Use It To Expand the Universe of Storytelling Features live demos of FOR-A's virtual studio technology

Aug 16th, 2004

CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA, August 16, 2004- Mega Media Studios, a production and facilities services company specializing in music video and commercial production for several niche broadcasters in the U.S., has purchased a FOR-A digiWarp-EX II Virtual Studio System with two camera sensors. The new system, delivered this summer, is already at work on the production of seven music videos.

The digiWarp-EX II is the first virtual set system used by the seven-month-old company. "We're totally in love with it," said Alex Shvarts, Director of Marketing for Mega Media Studios."Our production people are astonished by its capabilities, and extremely excited by the creative possibilities it offers.".

Mega Media shoots most of its video and film on location and does not have its own sound stage."Using digiWarp means we don't have to build physical sets," Shvarts explained. "We expect to save a lot of time and money. But it's not just about saving money, since this technology allows us to create unique environments for our stories."

With digiWarp-EX II, Mega Media's graphics artists can create complex scenery composed of object layers with a live blue screen image-expanding the limits for depth-of-field production in 3D space beyond what's possible with a single background layer.

The enhanced feature set of the digiWarp-EX II, which includes expanded masking and chroma key capabilities, impressed Mega Media."We did our research and looked at what's available in the marketplace," Shvarts continued. "We felt this was the best system. It offers the most bang for the buck."

As an all Apple Macintosh house, Mega Media Studios was impressed that the digiWarp-EX II system works well with both its Macs and standard PCs.And, though the company will download some virtual sets (digiWarp-EX II can import sets from simple graphics, photos or TGA files), most sets will be created in-house.

The DigiWarp EX II includes a software-based image processor, a controller with software, and a camera tracking or sensor system. It can be easily operated by a single person, and can integrate with a FOR-A VPS-400D digital switcher, which can include a chroma keyer module and 3D DVE.

Mega Media Studios, with about 50 employees, offers video, film and audio recording facilities. It is located at 1122 Coney Island Ave., Suite 210, Brooklyn, NY 11230. Phone: (718) 947-1100. Web site: www.vse-magazine.com.
