FOR-A INTRODUCES NEW SD AND HD ADDITIONS TO POPULAR UNIVERSAL FRAME SERIES OF SYNCHRONIZERS AND TBC'S

Customers Can Now Cost-effectively Populate FOR-A UF Series Frame With 10-bit HD Signal Processing

Feb 12th, 2004

CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA, NAB 2004 Booth #C5628, February 12, 2004 - Offering a highly attractive price-performance in some of the industry's most dense signal processing cards, For-A Corporation of America will introduce several new additions to its Universal Frame Series modular product family at NAB 2004. This includes the ability to process standard- and high-definition (SD/HD) signals from the same modular frame.

FOR-A will spotlight the new UFH-70HS, HD/SD frame synchronizer; UFM-145DFS, cost-effective Analog Composite to SD frame synchronizer; and the standalone FA-145 frame synchronizer/time base corrector during NAB 2004. All of these new modules fit easily into FOR-A's Universal Frame chassis, that is compact and expandable, as well as a variety of other signal processing functions, in the same frame. This offers customers the means to easily and quickly transition among any formats, while preserving their hardware frame investment.

The Universal Frame Series modular products and expandable chassis system are ideally suited to digital video and audio production companies, multi-format mobile production trucks, multi-channel satellite and cable reception facilities and any application where high-quality, reliable SD and HD digital signal processing is critical.

Our Universal Frame Series product range represents the key parts that hold a facility together,

said Hiro Tanoue, Sales Manager/Eastern Region and Central/South America, FOR-A Corporation of America. They enable signals to move reliably and be processed without quality degradation. We're now offering a clear migration path from analog to SD, and then to HD, one that that allows customers transition cost effectively.

The UFH-70HS includes high-quality synchronization processing for SD (525/60) and HD (1080/59.94i) signals. Users can choose to operate the module in bypass mode or by relay. There's freeze frame and auto freeze functions preinstalled, as well as the ability to control video, chroma, chroma phase and setup levels with ease. It also offers eight channels of AES/EBU unbalanced audio, audio delay and (optional) color correction features. Hot swapping capability makes the maintenance much easier as well.

The UFM-145DFS is a frame synchronizer board that supports serial digital component input/output for UF series chassis. It is equipped with an analogue composite input and enables A/D conversion for serial digital component output, as well as analog composite output for simple monitoring. As an option, UFM-100AED supports audio embedded/de-embedded signals.

Also compatible with FOR-A's UF Series chassis (though it can be used as a standalone system), the FA-145 is a frame synchronizer and time base corrector in a single, cost-effective system. It uses 10-bit 4:2:2 digital component processing and a Y/C decoder. It also supports SD-SDI video or analog composite video signals in and two-way SD-SDI video output signals. The analog composite output connections can also be used for signal monitoring. A full frame of memory is provided to enable reliable and frame accurate synchronization, and a variety of genlock functions are provided.
